John is re-elected

John Purvis was re-elected on June 10, 2004, to serve as one of Scotland's seven members of the European Parliament. John who was second on the Conservative list after Struan Stevenson said the vote had been on a knife-edge. "I am very privileged to have five more years to serve my constituency of Scotland. The purpose of the next period is to help businesses and the people of Scotland to make full use of what the European Parliament can do for them. The Parliament is often misunderstood but there is a lot it can do to help Scots people and businesses to grasp the opportunities that Europe offers them."
